  • If you have been planning to prepare moong ki daal ka cheela, make sure that you soak the lentil at least one night before.
  • It takes around 4 hours for the moong  lentil to swell up.
  • You can use any kind of moong dal to prepare the recipe.
  • I personally recommend using all three varieties of moong dal so that you get maximum nutrients out of the recipe.
  • Let the batter sit for few minutes in room temperature before preparing cheela out of it


In some places, moong ki daal ka cheela also known as pudlas and are quite popular in Rajasthan . moong ki daal doesn’t taste very good when prepared as an accompaniment of Roti. However, if you happen to prepare moong ki daal ka halwa, dosa or cheela, everything comes out great.


What to serve along with moong ki daal ka cheela?


You can fill up the moong ki daal ka cheela with some crumbled paneer, green chilli and Hara Dhaniya mixed with black pepper and salt. Add a little bit of tomato ketchup or green chutney along with moong ki daal ka cheela to create a complete meal.

Ingredients required to prepare moong ki daal ka cheela recipe –


  • Any variety of moong dal one cup or all three mixed together in equal quantities
  • Water for soaking
  • ¼ tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • One pinch of asafoetida
  • Finely chopped 1 big onion
  • Salt



Step by step guide to prepare perfect moong ki daal ka cheela at home –


  • Step 1 – clean moong Dal by rinsing it in water around 5 – 6 times.
  • Step 2 – soak it for around 7 hours.
  • Step 3 – the quantity of moong dal will eventually increase because it will swell up by absorbing some water.
  • Step 4 – using a mixer grinder churn the moong ki dal in order to create a lump free batter.



 How to prepare moong ki daal ka cheela?


Step 1 – take some batter in a clean bowl and add turmeric powder followed by red chilli powder, salt and cumin powder optional.

Step 2 – let the batter best for half an hour. add some onion  and finely chopped tomatoes if you want.

Step 3 – take non-stick Pan and Sprinkle some oil on it.

Step 4 – spread the batter using a small bowl likewise a dosa.

Step 5 –  reduce the flame while you spread the batter. drizzle a little bit of oil around the corner of the batter and let it cook from both the sides.
