  • 20-30 Kari Patta
  • 1tb whole coriander
  • 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp Fenugreek seed
  • 1 tbsp cumin Speed
  • 2 tbsp urad dal
  • 2 tbsp chana dal
  • 5 pinch Hing
  • 5 dried red Chillies
  • 4 cardamom
  • half tablespoon black pepper
  • 12 Cloves
  • 2 black cardamom
  • 2 pieces of dalchini
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder

 


Step by step guide to preparing homemade Sambar Powder at home-

  • Step 1 – Make sure that you roast the lentils during the initial stage for almost 5 minutes on a low flame and eventually add all the whole spices. Do not roast turmeric powder at all.
  • Step 2 – Add bay leaves and other spices along with asafoetida and they let it all cook in a low flame for 10 minutes in low flame. Let them get brown in color and keep on stirring them.
  • Step 3 – Let them cool down in room temperature.
  • Step 4 – churn them in the mixture grinder and add turmeric powder in the preparation.

Always ensure that you never increase the flame of the gas because that would end up burning the essence and devoiding the homemade sambar masala from the original flavor. Keep the gas flame at low and gradually roast all the ingredients together in a nonstick pan.
