Prepare Besan Ki Barfi At Home In Few Simple Steps

We have shared a very easy method to prepare Besan ki barfi at home. you can prepare it once in a blue moon and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for better shelf life.


Ingredients required to prepare the recipe –

  • 200 grams besan
  • 100-gram pure ghee
  • 150-gram sugar
  • 75 ml of water
  • 5 cardamom
  • 8 pistachios


Step by Step guide to prepare mouth melting Besan ki barfi recipe at home –

  • Step 1 – Take a pan and let it get hot. Eventually, add besan and roast it for a few minutes. add ghee almost half the quantity of Besan. Mix them very well together in a way that basan starts leaving ghee.
  • Step 2 – Keep on stirring the basan in low flame in order to get a better flavor. You can also add a little more ghee in case you want. It will take 5 – 10 minutes for the besan to get a very thin consistency.
  • Step 3 – Add to pinch of turmeric powder in the recipe for a better color.
  • Step 4 – Take 150-gram sugar and add water for boiling both the things together. Ensure one string consistency for preparing the sugar syrup.
  • Step 5 – Add cardamom powder in the sugar syrup.
  • Step 6 – Add the same sugar syrup in the besan and keep on stirring the mixture.
  • Step 7 – You can also add a few dry fruits in the recipe.
  • Step 8 – After the besan becomes thick, take a vessel and grease it with ghee. Add pistachios in the recipe and let it cool down under the fan.
  • Step 9 – After it cools down. refrigerate it and cut it down in square shape.

You can choose to cut down the Barfi in square or diagonal shape depending on your choice. Enjoy the sweet every day after food and have those happy moments with family. Preparing Besan ki barfi recipe at home is all about more patience in roasting the besan.


The second half of patience is required when you add the sugar syrup in the recipe. The sugar syrup has to be evaporated by constantly stirring the besan. I would suggest not to add more ghee in the recipe because it will not let the Barfi get that perfect square shape.


The quantity that we have mentioned here is an ideal one. If you find the homemade Besan ki barfi becoming hard because of storing in the refrigerator, microwave it for 1 minute before consumption every time.
