Ingredients required to prepare Dal Palak recipe

 

  • ¼ cup Pigeon pea lentils/ toovar Dal
  • 2 cups of finely chopped spinach
  • Salt
  • 3 tablespoon of ghee
  • One fourth Cup masoor dal or pink lentil
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • One fourth tablespoon asafoetida
  • Half tablespoon chilli powder
  • Half tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 5 cups of water for pressure cooking
  • One cup of water to be added in the last

 

 

Step by step guide to prepare Dal Palak-

 

  • Step 1 – heat some desi ghee and add cumin seeds until they pop. Eventually add ginger and fry until the Aroma goes away.
  • Step 2 – add finely chopped Chili and fry it for few minutes.
  • Step 3 – add red chilli powder, asafoetida and finely chopped spinach.
  • Step 4 – add mashed lentil in the spinach. pour water depending upon the consistency you want.
  • Step 5 – add salt and let the Dal Palak for 6 minutes.
  • Step 6 – serve the Dal hot with Roti, chapati or rice.

Pro tips-

  • Make sure that you properly Rinse the daal before you add it in the pressure cooker.
  • Do not forget to add turmeric and salt in the pressure cooker while you boil dal in it.
  • Thoroughly wash spinach and wash it
  • Let cumin seed pop up and then add Palak
